In this era, there are lots of new businesses emerged. From individuals business to big business which its market covers up worldwide. But also, many of them have been falling into bankruptcy because they can’t compete and cause many people are afraid to start a new business.
Actually, starting a new business isn’t a scary thing. If you already got the intention, capital, and also the willingness to work hard, then you can build your own business and grow it to an empire.
So anyway, this is a story which can be your motivation to start a new business.
It’s my auntie and she retired from her job 3 months ago. But the greatest thing is she never stop doing business and making money. She transformed her house into a really nice home interior store. There she sells many beautiful products like furniture, luxury bedding, wallpapers, rugs, blinds and so many more.
And last night I stopped by on her store, and i saw a lot of customers there in her store. Amazed by ‘the view’ and can’t hold my questions, i asked her “Come on, tell me the secret. I mean, in just 3 months you got this place like a mall with so many customers. It’s unbelievable!”
She just smile and answered: “Oh honey, there is no secret. It’s just hard work and manage the business properly.” While we walk around inside the store she continues: “It’s simple. If you know how to work yourself hard consistently, and manage any of your business properly and smart, you can expect yourself to be successful. And oh, you have to be good with people, too.”
A spot with some crowd took my attention. “Wait, what’s there?” I asked her. “Oh that’s the cheap rugs, honey. I’m giving a 50% discount on those area rugs. Well, you know, that’s one way of getting more customers.” She said. “What? By selling rugs?” I asked again. “No, you silly. By giving discount. That way we’ll get the products sold faster, customers are satisfied, and then usually customers will keep coming back to find more discounted items. Okay, let’s just say that business is like competition. And in short, we should be able to give something that most of other stores can’t give all the time. And in this case, a discount.” She answered. “Ah, now i get it.” I said and laugh.
After spending couple of hours there, i thank her for the priceless business lessons and then drive back home.
Like what my auntie said above, business is like a competition. If we want our business to be successful, we should properly manage our business, also work hard and smart consistently. Good with people helps a lot, too.
